What Makes the Perfect Roadshow?
By Jo Poole, Creative Projects Director
Well, I wouldn’t claim to have cracked the code on the perfect roadshow - but after running quite a few, I’ve learned some practical tips that can make yours far more successful.
First and foremost, you need to ask yourself one crucial question: Why do you people want to come to your roadshow? For most brands, the answer is simple: to raise awareness about your product or service. But simply being present isn’t enough. To truly stand out, your roadshow needs to be engaging, memorable, and, most importantly, fun.
Make It Fun and Engaging
Giveaways are always popular, but in my experience, competitions are one of the best ways to attract and hold people’s attention. A competition, especially one with a leaderboard, taps into people’s natural competitive spirit. When attendees can see how their colleagues are performing, it creates a buzz that keeps them coming back for another try.
This kind of interactive experience generates energy and curiosity around your stand. People naturally gather to watch, cheer on friends, and ultimately join in themselves.
Don’t Forget Prizes and Giveaways
An exciting prize is a strong incentive, and smaller giveaways are the cherry on top. Branded items or unique gifts keep your brand in people’s minds long after the roadshow ends, but key is to make these feel like rewards, not just freebie clutter.
Blend Fun With Education
While everyone’s caught up in the fun, you have the perfect opportunity to teach them more about your product. Whether it’s during the competition itself, through your team engaging with participants, or via product demos happening alongside the activation, you’re educating your audience without it feeling like a hard sell.
Collect Valuable Data
Beyond brand awareness and engagement, roadshows are also a prime opportunity for data capture. Collecting names, job titles, and email addresses allows you to build a valuable pipeline of potential customers you can follow up with after the event.
Competitions are particularly effective for this. When there’s a chance to win a great prize, people are far more willing to share their details. Just make sure to clearly communicate how their information will be used and comply with data protection laws.
The Perfect Roadshow? It’s About Connection.
Ultimately, the perfect roadshow isn’t just about flashy stands or big budgets; it’s about creating genuine moments of connection. If you can entertain, inform, and leave people feeling like they’ve had a great time, you’re well on your way to roadshow success.
